Girls' school shoes at The Trybe cover lace-ups, Mary Janes, flats and a low heel from ROC, Bobux and Skechers, and our full kids' school shoes range adds sneaker-style school shoes from Nike, ASICS and New Balance. As a store built only for children, our team fits every brand we stock.

Younger students often start in a flat or a Mary Jane, which goes on without laces. Bobux Kp Bound, Hula and Skipper are black leather flats for junior feet, while ROC Lauren Junior and Bobux Kp Bestie are leather Mary Janes, and our Mary Jane school shoes show every strap style together.
High schools tend to want a plainer, more formal shoe, and many do not allow Mary Janes. ROC Larrikin Senior is a black leather lace-up, ROC Larrikin Youth is a lace-up flat for the in-between sizes, and ROC Dakota Senior adds a low heel for schools that allow one. Our girls' black school shoes gather the black styles in one place.
Where the uniform allows a sneaker, black Nike Air Force 1 is one of our best sellers every back to school season, and running styles such as ASICS GT-1000 and New Balance 625 come in black. Some schools ban visible logos, so check the uniform guide before choosing a branded pair.
Â
Every brand runs differently, and different designs within one brand can fit narrower or wider, so our team measures and fits each pair rather than going by the size on last year's sneakers. Leave about a centimetre between the longest toe and the end of the shoe, and take the insole out to check it against the foot. Our kids' shoe size chart converts US, UK and European sizes, which rarely match on the same shoe.
New school shoes can feel firm after a summer in sandals, but a correctly sized pair softens within the first weeks of term.
A: A plain black leather lace-up suits a standard high school uniform, and ROC Larrikin Senior is a classic choice. ROC Dakota Senior suits schools that allow a low heel.
Â
A: Many high schools do not allow them and ask for a lace-up instead. Mary Janes such as ROC Lauren and Bobux Kp Bestie are popular for primary school, so check the uniform guide before the move to Year 7.
Â
A: It depends on the school. Some allow black sneakers and some ban visible logos. Where they are allowed, black Nike Air Force 1, ASICS GT-1000 and New Balance 625 are popular choices in our stores.
Â
A: Not all. The ROC and Bobux styles here have leather uppers, while many sneaker styles are mesh. If your school requires leather, check the product name before you buy.
Â
A: About a centimetre in front of the longest toe. More than that and the heel tends to slip, which rubs and wears the shoe out sooner, so avoid buying a size or two up.
